What is NAM?

Did you know that 2.5 million children die each year as a result of malnutrition?

We also know that with the right treatment and prevention interventions, it is possible to protect women and children from malnutrition.

There is growing awareness and momentum around the world about the importance of the problem of malnutrition and how to address it.

In the future, Japan will be required to provide not only financial support, but also human and technical assistance.

The reason for establishing NAM is to form a network of experts who have been involved in the problem of malnutrition in developing countries, to utilize their knowledge and experience, and to create a system that can be used to train young people. The purpose of NAM is to create opportunities such as practical training to train people who can work as nutrition experts in the field in developing countries, to actually carry out development support activities for nutrition improvement, and to actively promote strengthening partnerships and building networks with governments, public organizations, international organizations, NGOs, universities, research institutes, and private companies, and to contribute to the development of the international nutrition field in Japan and the enhancement of support activities by accumulating, sharing, and utilizing their experience and knowledge. Through domestic and international networks, the theme is to provide a place (space) for "open and free learning" and "innovative ideas" of "practical knowledge that can be used in the field".
