Nutrition Project Formation Survey in Liberia

The Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Consortium, which was established in Liberia in 2007 and is composed of five NGOs (Oxfam, Action against Hunger, Concern Worldwide, Water Aid, Tear Fund), has been implementing water and sanitation projects in schools and communities with support from Ireland. However, it has become necessary to form a multi-sector nutrition project in five states (Grand Bassa, Sinoe, RiverCess, Montserado, Gand Cape Mount) over the next five years, so NAM conducted a survey to form the project.

The present study used the following methods:

  • Situation analysis: Using secondary data to analyze nutrition status and drivers in Liberia

  • Theory of Change and Pathway Mapping

  • Evidence-based interventions: A list of effective interventions against the causes of malnutrition, primarily based on evidence from the literature.

  • Consortium Working Group Workshop

  • Interviews with donors and stakeholders

  • Developing activities

  • Proposal Creation

The methodology for formulating multi-sector nutrition projects through collaboration between multiple organizations that we learned through this survey can be applied in a variety of ways, so we would like to introduce it in future workshops and other forums.
