Action Network Against Malnutrition
Promoting an Africa-wide nutrition information sharing platform

With the support of the Canadian organization Nutrition International (NI), NAM has launched the "Africa-wide Nutrition Information Sharing Platform Promotion" for Tanzania and neighboring countries. The aim is to connect relevant parties through IT to share useful experiences, knowledge, and ideas in the region in order to improve the capacity of the Ministry of Health and related ministries and agencies involved in promoting national nutrition plans in each country. The East Central South Africa – Health Community (ECSA-HC) in Arusha, Tanzania is an organization that coordinates the Ministries of Health of nine countries in eastern, southern, and central Africa, and the platform based here has begun information sharing activities on the themes of behavior change and nutrition scale-up.
Due to the impact of COVID-19, we are unable to hold workshops that would bring together large numbers of people, so we are using social networks and online meetings to carry out our activities.Specifically, we are holding workshops via webinars (Zoom) and online (WhatsApp) groups called the Community of Practice (CoP), where we exchange opinions and share experiences on a theme-by-theme basis. The topics are designed to provide practical, live knowledge by focusing on the various challenges that nutrition officials in each country face in the field every day.
Going forward, NAM plans to collate and analyse the knowledge and experience gained from the WhatsApp group and share it widely through webinars and other means, as well as use it for capacity building to fill any nutrition knowledge gaps that emerge.
